Thrivent Grant Received
The St. John Dorcas Circle was the recipient in January of a Thrivent Action Team grant. Josh Randall, Thrivent Financial Associate, graciously sponsored the grant on behalf of Dorcas Circle volunteers. The grant provided a $250 community impact card along with ‘Live Generously’ Thrivent t-shirts. Dorcas Circle used the $250 community impact card to purchase 30 yards of 90 inch wide cotton quilting batting. This batting will become an integral part of 20 queen size quilts that Dorcas Circle volunteers will sew, tie, and donate through Lutheran World Relief (LWR). Many thanks to Josh for his generous help with this action team project.
If you or someone you know has materials that you would be interested in donating to Dorcas Circle that can be used in quilt making or rolled bandages, please contact Joyce Cooper. Items that we use include cotton fabric yard goods, spools of thread (any color), sewing machine needles (size 80/12 sharps is great for our cotton fabric) and light colored sheets (used is fine for our bandage making). Volunteers are always welcome and appreciated too. No experience needed. Dorcas Circle has a long history of preparing rolled bandages and making quilts for baptisms at St. John and for LWR. We are grateful for your past and ongoing support as we strive to do God’s work.
