Want to know what kinds of things we do? Take a look at a recap of one of our night below or the link for the VBS 2024 recap to the left.
Night Five of VBS July 25- God is a friend for Everyone!
We made shrinky-dinks, we played games, we sang Thanking God, One True God!, to Count Your Blessings, and that God is a Friend We Can Trust!
Our Bible story about Paul and Lydia (Acts 16:11-15) showed us that no one will be left our of God's loving friendship. This is why we invite everyone to join us for VBS. This is why we try to love everyone like Jesus did. This is why we work hard to be friends with other people. Because God wants to be a friend to everyone!
Night Four of VBS July 24- God is a friend forever!
We had a great night as we learned that God is a friend forever! We made tie-dye t-shirts and we sang Thanking God, One True God!, to Count Your Blessings, and that God is a Friend We Can Trust!
Our Bible story was about Jesus’ death a resurrection (John 18-20). We learned that because of Jesus dying and rising we can have a forever friendship with God. Nothing can separate us from God. The disciples of Jesus thought that they had lost their forever friend. But they didn’t! God raised Jesus from the dead and that means our friendship with God is one that will never end.
Night Three of VBS July 23- God is a friend we can trust!
We had a great night as we learned that God is a friend who loves! We decorated cookies and we sang Thanking God, One True God!, to Count Your Blessings, and that God is a Friend We Can Trust!
Our Bible story was about Jesus calming the storm (Mark 4:35-41). We learned that even when life gets stormy, we can trust God to bring us peace. That as long as Jesus is in our boat with us- nothing can sink us! We learned that in Jesus we have a friend we can trust to stick with us. Always. Just like with the disciples, Jesus is always in the boat with us.
Night Two of VBS July 22- God is a friend who loves!
Tonight we had water games, sang songs, and decorated beautiful stained glass sea creatures for our craft.
Our Bible story was about Jonah (Jonah 1-3) you can also find the story in this video. Jonah didn’t think the people of Nineveh deserved God’s mercy. We learned that even when we disobey (like Jonah did) even when we hurt others (like the people of Nineveh did) God wants to have mercy on us. God helps us to love even those we find hard to love.
At the last supper that Jesus shared with his disciples before he was crucified, Jesus gave them a command. This command was to “love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34). This command and stories like that of Jonah remind us that God is a friend who loves! Thanks God!
Night One of VBS July 21- God is a friend who is real! Thanks, God!
Tonight we played games, sang songs, and decorated seashells for our craft.
W also learned that God is a friend who is real. Who is active in our lives. We heard the story of Elijah who had a lot of ups and downs in his life. But God showed up for him in all of it. God came to Elijah in fire and in a whisper. We learned that sometimes we can see God in big and bold things. The beauty of a sunrise or a thunderstorm overhead. Sometimes, we see God in quiet ways. The kiss mom gives us as we're falling asleep. The warmth of our beds in the morning. All of these show us that God is a friend who is real!
