St. John will again be facilitating the Ely Community Food Drive which benefits area food banks.
Sunday May 5 between services (approximately 9:15 am) bags will be distributed to each home in Ely.
Saturday, May 11 beginning about 9:30 am we will collect those filled bags.
How do you volunteer?
Coordinators for a section of town. Sign up here to be a coordinator. We would love to have one person to coordinate for each of the 10 sections in town.
- On May 5 this would mean being the person to get the bags to be distributed to that part of town, pass them out to the volunteers, supervise their distribution, then reporting back how many were distributed.
- On May 11 this would mean coordinating and supervising the volunteers who collect for that part of town and being willing/able to drop off that food at the assigned pantry for that part of town. You can sign up at the welcome center or online. If you have questions about this, please contact Pastor Brian.
Workers! Sign up here to distribute or pick up bags. We need many hands to distribute bags and to collect the filled bags. Please sign up if you are available to help either day. You can sign up at the Welcome Center at church or online.
What is the Ely Community Food Drive?
St. John Lutheran has been facilitating the Ely Community Food Drive for many years. Each year, we identify 5-6 food pantries to support with the donations from the community.
Traditionally we have included the Solon Community Food Pantry, the North Liberty Community Food Pantry, Linn Community Food Bank, and Olivet Neighborhood Mission. Beginning in the last few years we have also included the Ely Community Food Pantry.
